Introduction
Cloud Infrastructure Built to Keep Bookings Available and Customer Data Protected
Dasa Holidays is a growing travel and hospitality company operating a hotel booking platform powered by QloApps and a customer relationship management system built on SuiteCRM. As booking demand increased, its existing infrastructure needed to support more traffic, transactions, customer records, media files, and internal operations.
Devine Globe Technologies designed and deployed a production-ready AWS cloud infrastructure based on AWS Well-Architected Framework principles. The solution combines a multi-tier network, Multi-AZ availability, automatic database failover, encrypted storage, application load balancing, web application security, audit logging, and centralised monitoring.
The new AWS environment gives Dasa Holidays a secure and scalable technical foundation for running its booking platform and CRM while preparing the business for seasonal demand and future expansion.
The Challenge
Preparing a Growing Booking Platform for Peak Travel Demand
Dasa Holidays needed to modernise its cloud infrastructure without disrupting its QloApps booking platform or SuiteCRM operations. The environment had to remain available during demand spikes while protecting customer data and staying within the company’s infrastructure budget.
- Maintain reliable access to the hotel booking platform.
- Support QloApps and SuiteCRM within one AWS environment.
- Separate public, application, and database resources securely.
- Provide automatic database failover during infrastructure disruption.
- Protect web applications against common attacks and unauthorised access.
- Maintain centralised monitoring, audit logs, backups, and cost controls.
The Solution
A Secure Multi-Tier AWS Architecture for Booking and CRM Operations
Devine Globe combined AWS infrastructure consulting, cloud security, database engineering, network architecture, monitoring, and cost optimisation to create a production environment designed for reliability and controlled growth.
1. Isolated Multi-Tier Network Architecture
We created a dedicated Amazon VPC using the 10.0.0.0/16 address range and divided it into six subnets across two Availability Zones. The public tier hosts the Application Load Balancer, while application servers and databases operate in separate private subnets without direct internet exposure.
2. Multi-AZ High Availability
Infrastructure resources were distributed across ap-south-1a and ap-south-1b to reduce dependence on a single Availability Zone. An Application Load Balancer distributes incoming traffic across redundant frontend and backend servers and uses health checks to route requests to available resources.
3. Resilient MySQL Database Infrastructure
Amazon RDS for MySQL 8.0 was deployed using the db.m5.4xlarge instance class with Multi-AZ failover. Automated daily backups, seven-day retention, Performance Insights, and enhanced monitoring improve database recoverability, visibility, and operational control.
4. Layered Cloud Security
All EC2 application servers operate inside private subnets and can be accessed securely through AWS Systems Manager. AWS WAF helps mitigate common web threats, while security groups, IAM roles, encrypted EBS volumes, RDS encryption, and S3 encryption protect infrastructure and customer data at multiple levels.
5. Centralised Storage, Logging and Monitoring
Four Amazon S3 buckets organise QloApps media, CRM attachments, backups, and centralised logs. Amazon CloudWatch monitors system activity, AWS CloudTrail records account-level actions, and VPC Flow Logs provide visibility into network traffic for security reviews and troubleshooting.
The Approach
From Infrastructure Requirements to a Production-Ready AWS Environment
Cloud Infrastructure Assessment
We reviewed the technical requirements of QloApps, SuiteCRM, PHP, MySQL, media storage, customer data, seasonal booking traffic, and internal CRM activity. This assessment defined the required compute capacity, database configuration, security boundaries, monitoring, and backup policies.
Network and Availability Planning
The AWS environment was divided into public, private application, and private database tiers across two Availability Zones. Routing tables, security groups, subnets, load balancing, and controlled outbound access were configured to limit unnecessary exposure.
Compute, Database and Storage Deployment
The application environment was deployed across two r6i.2xlarge backend servers and four m6i.xlarge frontend servers running Ubuntu 24 LTS, Nginx, PHP 8.1, and Composer. RDS MySQL and four purpose-specific S3 buckets completed the core infrastructure.
Security and Observability Implementation
AWS WAF, IAM roles, Systems Manager, CloudTrail, VPC Flow Logs, CloudWatch, encryption, and backup policies were configured to support secure operations. Logging and monitoring provide visibility into infrastructure health, network activity, administrative actions, and database performance.
Cost and Scalability Optimisation
Resources were right-sized according to application requirements, while S3 lifecycle policies and a controlled NAT Gateway strategy reduced unnecessary spending. Reserved Instance recommendations were provided, and the environment was prepared for horizontal scaling, vertical upgrades, Auto Scaling, and future Amazon CloudFront integration.
Conclusion
A Cloud Foundation Ready for Peak Booking Seasons
Dasa Holidays now operates QloApps and SuiteCRM on a structured AWS environment designed for reliable travel and hospitality operations. The Application Load Balancer distributes traffic across four frontend and two backend servers, reducing reliance on any single application server.
Multi-AZ RDS deployment provides automatic database failover, while daily backups, enhanced monitoring, and Performance Insights improve recovery readiness and database visibility. Private application and database tiers reduce direct exposure, and AWS WAF adds protection against common web attacks.
The infrastructure gives Dasa Holidays clear options for future growth. Additional application servers can be introduced horizontally, instance capacity can be increased vertically, and Auto Scaling and Amazon CloudFront can be added as booking traffic expands.
